Salman Khan for a cause: Costliest tie

Salman Khan was all dressed up for a change! Departing from his trademark bare chest, King Khan paraded in a suit, and dark glares (? at 9:30 pm?) and a Rs one crore diamond studded tie, courtesy Satya Paul. He wasn’t the only one at Culturalties, at the Taj poolside, Wednesday night. The lively event had the city’s assorted biz citizenry, cool dudes, movie stars and others walk the ramp wearing art inspired ties in aid of charity (which charities wasn’t quite clear to audience members though. Some were overheard asking each other). Leander Paes, back with a bang to mucho audience appreciation, got a round of claps. So did Jehangir Sabavala, Anupam Kher, Atul Ruia, Akshay Kilachand, Jamal Mecklai, Harsha Bhogle, Manish Malhotra... Each displayed his outfit with refreshing flamboyance, so different from regular stone faced catwalkers. Fond wife Juhi videocamed her husband Jai Mehta, as appreciative onlookers hooted in glee at impromptu theatrics on the red carpet ramp. Mumbai clearly enjoyed the evening!
